Sandrone, also known as The Gorilla, has been suffering from a split personality disorder ever since he was a child. Two people live in his body: the first, Sandrone, is good natured, fun and ironic, while his second self, Socio (the Associate) is rational, cold, violent. Scared of ending up in a psych ward, Sandrone has decided to live his life hidden in the shadows, earning a living as an unlicensed investigator. His disorder has made it impossible for him to sleep, and a permanent insomnia is great for jobs that require monitoring and tailing.
After the umpteenth hospitalisation, stabbed by a serial killer, Sandrone decides to go for a more peaceful job: escorting around Italy an old American actor everyone forgot about to guest star at a convention. But while he is working reluctantly, Sandrone finds himself helping a girl whose boyfriend has been killed. It would be too much for any man. Luckily there’s two of them, him and his Associate…

“From a novel by Sandrone Dazieri. An unlicensed investigator, called Gorilla, suffers from a split personality disorder which makes it impossible for him to sleep, pushing him to accept any kind of odd job. After the umpteenth beating, he accepts to work as a bodyguard for an old American actor and gets involved in the murder of a very aggressive and attractive girl’s boyfriend. First feature film for C. A. Sigon who, thanks to the help from a great C. Bisio – always underrated on the big screen – is able to capture the protagonist’s “disease”, which is easy to get on the pages of a book, but hard to visualise, and puts together a noir-mystery which is complicated but well put-together, set in Cremona. A memorable performance by the 88 year-old E. Borgnine, but also from the secondary characters: the irresistible Luke portrayed by G. Alberti, the mafia member portrayed by A. Catania and the tough Gipi, portrayed by B. Storti”

“Bisio is perfect in the role of the Gorilla! I admit: I had some doubts. Claudio is a pro, but when I heard he was going to play the main character in The Bodyguard’s Cure, I asked myself what the result would be. Well I can now say: go watch it. Sigon’s movie is funny and intriguing, loyal to Sandrone Dazieri, the author, and his settings- Bisio plays the difficult part of a man with split personalities: on one hand we have Sandrone, good and strong, on the other we have the Associate, cold and cruel. Claudio’s versatile face is perfect to portray a “double-voice” and, believe me, even in the first scenes which are very pulp you can see that Mr Clean head without ever thinking about the caricature of Zelig, the famous comedy show Bisio used to host.
Bisio dives in the atmosphere of the best Italian noir movies, with often complicated routes. Another thing which pleasantly impressed me was how well the traditional thriller genre was handled. If you go see The Bodyguard’s Cure, you will also enjoy an extraordinary Bebo Storti. It is essential to catch the political and social environments which serve as a counterpoint for the story”
