In the wild and boundless land of Torrematta there is not an adult in sight, and every summer two gangs fight: on one side, the children of rich lords, on the other side, children of the earth, the Bumpkins.

The bosses of the respective gangs are the charming Francisco Marinho and the grim Scaleno. They have been fighting since birth, dragging their soldiers into this class conflict. But this year, the Bumpkins are going to rebel against the lords’ supremacy: the symbols of power will be attacked, turning the class fight into a real war of conquest. Behind the main characters’ backs, an era is coming to an end, and with it the last chance to fight in a violent, but epic and poetic war.

A lively tale, illuminated by an immense postmodernism…

M. Porro, Corriere della Sera

An unusual, ingenious example of fakelore, fake-folklore.

R. Nepoti, La Repubblica

Barletti and Conte reinvent the landscape and with it, a new image: solid, intimate and collective at the same time, adventurous just like this film.

C. Piccino, Il Manifesto

A small, delightful surprise, a movie with (almost) no adults made for teenagers. For those who get it: applause.

F. Pontiggia, Il Fatto Quotidiano

The cinematographic event of the season (..) Echoes of Truffaut, a pinch of neorealism, a callback to Nouvelle Vague, a few visionary moments.

G. Satta, Il Messaggero
