Non c’era una signora a quel tavolo is the story of a life lived in and for the cinema, the story of Cecilia Mangini, documentarist, photographer and scholar who has told 30 years of Italy’s history. In this documentary by Barletti and Conte, the images of an era in Italy which seems far away: that of the economic boom, with its wounds, its dramas and its vitality. We look at a part of the country’s history through the lenses of one of the key players of the richest season in Italian cinema and culture. Cecilia Mangini’s passionate storytelling shakes off the dust of time, making it twist and twirl in the glimmer of old projectors and legendary moviolas. An entire era and its protagonists come back to life to show us just how much they still have to say about our present time.
